Two decades ago l gave up golf because it wasn’t football and would one day tell me, via a number next to my name, how much worse l got as l aged.
My number?
11 at the end.

On a benign parkland course.

I remember a Pro Am on our benighted track, going round with a young Scottish Pro.
He shot 61.
I asked him why he wasn’t on the Tour proper, playing like that, and what made the greats great.
He said one word, “Focus.”
I never saw his name on the Big Tour.
Let me share three personal experiences, that are closer to real life than mercurial Rory’s exploits, when focus brought huge reward:
1️⃣ Millennials, l started my business at 35.
For 35 years, twenty-five of them with KWC Global, l’ve worked on my speaking skills.
Now I deliver three hours to 300 with just a flipchart and a pen.
Find something you do tolerably well and focus relentlessly on it.
2️⃣ At 45, we could have gone bust.
The financial crash cratered us as no-one wanted speaking skills, so we created Rainmaker.
Selling for professionals.
Fifteen years on, it’s our lodestar programme.
3️⃣ Nearly 60, l could’ve just stopped, but no.
Lockdown emptied the KWC Global diary overnight. It took three months for the corpse to get a pulse.
It looked like we might close, it certainly was an option.
Many training consultancies did.

Then boom!
Zoom!
We relentlessly focussed on remaking our programmes for LVL, teamwork really does make the dream work.
We have grown at 30% a year since.
And are now global.
